In the very heart of Mazurian forests you can find the ruins of Adolf Hilter's war headquarters. It?s a hidden town - 200 buildings: shelters, barracks, 2 airports, a power station, a railway station, air-conditioners, water supplies, heat-generating plants and two tele-printers. In 1944 more than 2000 people lived here. On July 20, 1944 captain Claus Schenk von Stauffenberg failed to attempt on Adolf Hitler life here. |

At the moment the Nazis invasive in Poland, massive arrests of Poles started in the Free City of Gdansk (Danzig). On the first day of the war approx. 1500 people were arrested. The victims were mainly Poles active in social and economical life, activists and members of Polish organizations. Among the arrested Poles a group of 150 persons was selected and, as early as on the 2nd September 1939, they were transported to Stutthof. In this moment the tragic story of this camp, a story that lasted for many years, began. In June 1944 it became a part of the project "the final solution of the Jewish problem" - "Endloesung". In this way it became a camp for mass- extermination. |

Fortification was built in years 1579 - 1618. It is possible to admire fortification surrounding the city during a city walk. Zamosc Fortress used to be the most powerful fortress in Poland. |

The Shelter of Szczecin - underground trail

Shelter was built by Germans in 1941 as an anti-aircraft shelter for civilians. In its construction Germans probably used older underground corridors from 19th century. Shelter is 5-floor deep. Its iron-concrete walls are 3 meter of thick. The underground 800-meter trail is today a tourist attraction. |
