The Teutonic Knights constructed first castle in Torun in the middle of the 13th century. The south wing with a chapel, a refectory, a dormitory and a kitchen were built at the beginning. Than, the Teutonic Knights rected a high octagonal tower in a yard, a chapter-house and a tower called ?Dansker? in the east wing. Nowadays tourist can visit only the remained parts of the castle?s moat and walls cellars and Gdanisko. Tourists are guided by ?knights? from 13th century. In 1997 the Old and New Town as well as Teutonic Castle in Torun were registered on the List of World?s Cultural Heritage of UNESCO. |
